Liquorice, Hurling, EVSC, Cork tour and my dad

Hi there.
It is another Monday and the start of a new week. Just an ordinary week, which I prefer. Well, of course I like happenings and stuff, but I prefer to have a routine.
Maybe it is boring for you to hear about my weekends all the time, but that is the only time I am doing something interesting, at least what I think.
So.. well, actually I have something to tell you that did not happen on the weekend. It happend on a Wednesday and a Friday.

My hostmom and two of the boys came home after their swimming with som sweets and treats. And one of these treats was LIQUORICE. TO ME! :D Even Salty. Not as salt as the "Djungelvrål" I have at home, but still! So, I was so happy and that was so cute of them to think of me. I may be dorky, but I wrote it on facebook that I was so happy over this thing. Actually, it was not the liquorice, it was that THEY gave me liquorice. A gift. And they were thinking of me. So the combination. I do not really how to explain it, but.. yeah. They are not stingy, it's not what I'm trying to say, but they did not have to buy that if they did not want to.
And two days later. On the Friday. I got it again, but this time FOUR of them. Haha. One of them I gave to the boys. Later on that day the oldest one had a hurling match and he was wondering if I wanted to come. And of course. I have never seen a hurling match before, and even if it was ten-year-olds it was still a hurling match. He scored once and even if I did not understand how they were counting points and what the rules was I could see he was good. In half time I went home with my host mom and the little one, because it was freexing could. And we were lucky. As soon as we came home it started to rain. Haha. After that we just had a nice evening. The boys won the hurling match and yes.

The day after I was not supposed to meet Milena and Cristina until 6, but Evi contacted me and I said "sure, we can meet". So at 4, because I missed my first bus I met her and we went to a Creperie and I had a crepe with homemade Icecream and caramel sauce. Mmm, yum! We met the other girls, had some dinner and headed to the Beggarman Pub, where they were going to show the Eurovision Song Contest. It was a awesome Pub, my opinion, with a cinema upstairs. There we met up with Belinda, Anna and a italian au pair called Eleonora. She really reminded me of Federica. When she walked in I thought "Oh, Fede is here. Great! :)" and a second later I remebered..."Federica is not here. Not even in Ireland....". Well, well. Then I started to miss my Fede.
Eleonora was really nice anyhow. Later another girl came along, who was going to meet Evi, Evelina was her name and she was from Poland. And during this night at the Pub, he had organized a little competition. We all got a country each - I got Germany and the one who got the winning country got a bottle of Champagne.
Sweden came 3rd. With Sanna Nielsen's Undo.
2nd came the Netherlands.
The winner this years was a woman with a beard - Austria. Haha. Belinda was happy, even if she usually does not even watch it. And also, the winner of the Pub game was Eleonora.

Anna, Eleonora, Belinda, Milena and I. (Cristina was on the toilet and Evi and Evelina went earlier)

So, a great start of the night. After that we were trying to get in to some clubs, but nope. "You have to be 23..". But finally we found Baileys were we stayed till 2...3, something. Till it closed, and of course we went to McDonals afterwards. At 4am we were home at Belindas house.
The morning after we woke up at 11. I met her family and they seemed lovely. We met Milena and Cristina in Cork around 2:30pm and we bought brunch/picnic for 16 euros. We found some tables they have when it is a market going on. So there we sat and ate all our delicious things. Haha. Because we did not really know what to do later, we decided to do the Cork tour. 1 hour and 10 minutes. I was almost awake the whole tour. Almost. I really tried to.
When I went home I wanted to try to take the bus from Cork to Mallow and then the train from Mallow to Banteer and see if that was cheaper. So I did. From Banteer. The weather was lovely so I decided to walk. A quick shower came and a man stopped and picked me up and droped me in Kanturk. Halv eight I was home.
My Host mom and host dad asked me if I walked the whole way from Banteer. I told them my story and they expained for me that walking from Banteer is dangerous, because there is no sidewalk. Walking there is dangerous because I was a girl with a skirt. Walking there is dangerous beacuse that road is very busy. Being picked up by a stranger is dangerous. And you know what. Even if I knew all that and they were a bit angry with me, I was happy and relieved. That they reacted. Because I am that kind of person who thinking afterwards. I told my host mom that I was glad they talked to me about that and she said that they did not want to give out on me, but I have to be careful. And I did not even text them.
So, learn from my mistakes. Because you know. Even if mostly everyone is good, the human kind is good, and they are friendly, and I was lucky and came home this time, you never know what happens next time. So i decided that I will call them next time and get home, put on a tracksuit and go out for a real walk instead. That is better. They are good, my host parents and I am lucky I have them.

Just one more thing. My dad came home (to Sweden) on the Friday. This time to stay. We will see for how long, but no more work in Dubai. Nice to have you closer, dad!

Now the little one is waking. So, see ya!

Xxx Maria
